Now that school is out, here are some T-Party peeks just for kids . . .
Have you ever seen the National Spelling Bee on television? I try to catch some of it every year and find it amazing how these kids devote themselves to learning to spell the most difficult of words. And I’m always impressed with their concentration and poise. This spring, Evan M. O’Dorney, a 13-year-old contestant from Danville, California, won by spelling the word serrefine.
If you’re looking for a great movie to rent this summer, I highly recommend Akeelah and the Bee. Perfect for all ages, it is a wonderful and inspirating movie about a precocious eleven-year-old girl from South Los Angeles with a gift for words.
But now is the time to put spelling aside for a little while. So as the June Solstice (that most special, longest day of the year) approaches later this week, we wish you all a very H-A-P-P-Y S-U-M-M-E-R-!
