Here's a face only a seven-year-old back in 1965 could love . . .
While rooting around in the attic this morning, I came across my troll dolls from the 1960's, complete with their vintage vinyl carrying case.
These odd looking dolls are just about the only toys I still have from my childhood. I remember carrying them in this handy case when I went over to play at friends' houses.
Back then, I was a budding fashion designer. I would collect the bits of fabric from my mother's sewing projects and create elaborate dresses for these unlikely models. None of my couture outfits have survived. However, the basic felt dress that came with the large troll is still intact. So is the circa 1965 braid I put in her hair.
I still find these kitschy troll dolls endearing. Just look at those faces! Are they ugly? Cute? Maybe a little of both.
Susan

Oh, they are definitely ugly...but, full of charm...look at those little buns. Hee-hee.
I had some as a kid back then, too and my friend had a GIANT one - that was fun to play with the huge hair. I have one now on my keychain that is so super grungy I think I need to give it a bath.
I have none of my few childhood toys - and, that makes me sad. I would love to have my Liddle Kiddles again.
Yesterday, I came across a book called Christmas memories at Borders and they had a pic of the Kiddles...they were adorable.

When we were little, we called the Wish Niks (I don't know why). I was so surprised when my children wanted these dolls...called Trolls. Too funny.

I know alot of people think they are ugly (and I guess they kind of are) but being born in 1960 I am kind of partial to them.

You know I don't think they are "ugly" But I was never into them. It seems sad to not love them!
