I am making steady progress in my search for 59 vintage lunch boxes for a hotel in Portland, Oregon. So far, I have amassed 44. And as you can see, they are taking over my Hoosier cabinet.
Everyone has been asking how theses lunch boxes will ultimately be used. At this point, I really don't know. I imagine them in a display of some sort or resting inside individual cubbies together on a wall. I think that would look quite striking, don't you?
Just 15 more to go!
Susan
News flash! I just heard from the project manager as to how these boxes will be used. She said they will be creating a collection of assemblages consisting of a lunchbox, a vintage book, and a porcelain owl on top of a lamp base. I can't quite picture what she means, but she promises me a photo when they are done.

I couldn't have done it without eBay! That's where 95% of them came from.

I'm really amazed you found so many plaid lunch boxes. Here you might find one or two at the big flea market and they'd be $100. I used to have one as a kid..who knew they'd be so popular.

Susan,
I just recently found your blog - it is so fun! I haven't had a chance (yet) to look through the entire website, but I am really looking forward to it! The vintage lunchbox collecting looks like a fun project. Please keep us posted on how it turns out in Portland.

You sure work fast Susan! WOW! Your good girl. I love the plaid ones. I hope we get to see how they use them. I have a feeling it is how you said. They would make a statement that way.
