One of the T-Party chores that Cynthia and I share is doing the cloth napkins that are used at our tea room. This week it was my turn, so yesterday I spent some of my day off ironing. I like to iron and find it therapeutic. It’s a good time to do some thinking.
The napkins we use are vintage, most of which I made out of 1940s and 50s floral tablecloths. I don’t mind
cutting up a beautiful cloth as long as it has stains or holes or wear. The areas that were salvageable became our napkins. We use vintage dishes at T-Party, as well. Also from the 40s and 50s, these assorted tea and toast sets are a perfect solution when space is at a premium. Our tables are small and need to accommodate teapots, tiered trays, a sugar bowl, creamer, honey pot, etc. These sets save space as the teacup rests on the larger underplate thereby eliminating the need for a separate saucer.
The ironing took about an hour. Here’s the entire load, all 82 of them, clean, pressed and ready for another week.
When I think of how many napkins I’ve ironed over the last 3+ years! I’m glad Cynthia reminds me from time to time that each and every one of these napkins represents a tea patron. It’s not so bad when I look at it that way.
Oh, one more thing . . . Happy Birthday Cynthia!
Susan
Oh, that's a wise thing to do with damaged tablecloths. You have quite a beautiful collection of napkins, there. Even your iron is beautiful! Have a lovely day, Susan!

I love ironing napkins! As you say, so therapeutic. And, with napkins as pretty as those, eye candy!
