More and more these days, I find myself drawn to old books. Maybe it's because I do most of my pleasure reading on an iPad. After a while, I miss the tactile experience that a real book provides.
The graphic designer in me especially likes books with nice typography and front covers. I also find ones with beautiful illustrations very appealing.
Books that reminds me of my childhood, like grade-school primers and song books, are always fun.
Sometimes I get lucky and find antique poetry books with lovely sentiments and stunning lithographs.
For home decor, I often use a stack of vintage books to add height to a vignette or as a pedestal for other objects.
I appreciate old books that are chock full of useful information about sewing or other do-it-yourself topics.
I don't mind if a book is missing its jacket or isn't in great shape. Shabby illustrated editions can be salvaged for their frame-worthy drawings.
But like most collectors, I can't keep every item I find. So I pass things along, like the books in this post. They are listed (or will soon be making an appearance) in my Etsy shop. You can view them and more of my vintage books here.
Susan
Susan I love your books. That last one is awesome.
