Can you believe it? Our pet frog is 17 years old!
Spike came into our lives in a surprising fashion. Back when Jacob was four years old, he returned home from his friend Jack's birthday party with an unusual item in his party favor bag — a frog! Apparently Jack's mom thought it would be fun to give all of the guests fully-formed baby aquatic frogs. Crazy, right? This sudden addition to our family promptly took up residence in a fish tank on our kitchen counter. Jacob named him Spike, and the rest is history...
Happy Birthday Spike! We're so glad to still have the pleasure of your easygoing company.

Happy Birthday Spike, you cutie pie! I can't believe he's 17, he doesn't look a day over 2, teehee! I hope this goes through, I'm having terrible internet problems, I called and they tell me I have the fastest, I sure don't want to see the slowest then.

Oh, my gosh, I love this post because it illustrates that these are not "throw away" pets. You are amazing, AMAZING. I have a whole new appreciation for you! My dental hygienist had her tiny little 1950s painted turtle for 37 years. It wasn't tiny when it passed away but it shows how caring some people can be. ~ Ginene
