I love it when I come across something so unique that no matter how much research I do, I still can’t figure out what it was made for. My newest find is just that...
This mysterious lady found on Martha’s Vineyard looks to be handmade. With an hourglass figure, tiered blue dress and jaunty hat, she’s certainly chock full of personality and vintage appeal.
The hole in her left hand intrigues me. She must have once held something — a purse, a basket, a suitcase, a dog’s leash? I wish I knew!
Her right hand also has a hole, but it doesn’t go all the way through.
After googling for quite some time and coming up with nothing, I decided to ask my loyal Instagram and Facebook followers if they had any thoughts about this beguiling creature.
Most thought that she was made to hold string. So I’ve embraced that idea and wrapped cotton twine around her legs, (I love how it completes her skirt!), added a tiny bouquet of red millinery flowers in one hand and slipped the end of the string through the other.
❤️❤️❤️ She looks right at home in my studio. And in case you were wondering, for now, she’s a keeper!

Your lady has intrigued me since you first introduced her to your readers. I think she looks great with the string around her legs, kind of like a Little Miss Muffin with pantaloons. However,I don't think she's for string since her body doesn't go around when you pull the string. She looks great how you've styled her, but I think she was made for other things.
Please don't think I'm raining on your paarade, because she has stumped me since I first saw her. She might not have a job to do and she might just be some whimsy someone created.
